The code-a-pillar (fisher price)

What is it?

A toy, it comes in 8 pieces, you have the head of the code-a-pillar, straight arrows, left and right turns and a sound icon.
In the box you also will find a start and end disk to build your own route.

How does it work?

You decide which part you attach to the code-a-pillar. When, for example, you attach only the straight arrows and press 'play' your code-a-pillar will go forward in a straight line.

You can set out a route and ‘program’ your code-a-pillar to go from the start disk to the end disk.

They also developed an app for IOS or Android where you can play with a cartoon version of the code-a-pillar.

What do we think?

It makes an annoying noise like most kids toys. The noise’s not only annoying but also incredibly loud. I found it to loud and my ears are way up higher than the kids.

Age?

The age on the box says: 3-6 y
My kids are 16 months old and 5 years old.
My 16 month old son love it for making the terrible noise. But hey, that’s what fisher price does best, make toys for babies. He loves to pick up the head of the code-a-pillar and walk around with it. Asks me to attach the code parts. When his sisters “programs” the code-a-pillar and it takes off, he crawls and walks after is with a lot of joy.
My 5 years old girl (use to toys like this) finds the code-a-pillar cool, but it doesn’t do exactly what she excepts it to do (straight ahead, is not straight he wobbles). When it makes a turn, you don’t know how much degrees he will turn. When he bobs on to something, he stops his program and resumes it where stopped when you remove the obstacle and press play again.
So she likes it to play with her brother, but doesn’t see it as an challenge.

Note

When you pick it up while driving, and tough the wheels, it hurts my hand. So doesn’t it hurt the kids as well?
